Today, Blesma, The Limbless Veterans is one of only around ten charities that still exist from the 18,000 that were born out of the First World War. Our mission is to assist limbless veterans to lead independent and fulfilling lives. Blesma is dedicated to assisting serving and ex-Service men and women who have suffered life-changing limb loss or the loss of use of a limb, an eye or loss of sight. We support these men and women in their communities throughout the UK and overseas.
The Gurkha Welfare Trusts aims to provide welfare to enable Gurkha ex-servicemen and their dependants to live out their lives with dignity primarily in Nepal but increasingly in UK and elsewhere. Although the Trust has a global remit, its firm focus is Nepal. This is achieved by raising funds for distribution in Nepal through the Trust’s field arm, the Gurkha Welfare Scheme.
Dreamflight is a registered UK charity that changes young lives through taking children with a serious illness or disability, without their parents, on the holiday of a lifetime to Orlando, Florida. Once a year, 192 deserving children from all over the UK, accompanied by a team of medical carers, board a chartered Boeing 747 and head to Florida to spend 10 magical days of fun and excitement. Many children could not undertake such a trip without the support of the army of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and non-medical volunteers who care for the children 24 hours a day.
